Reasons to Smile

I found this list in English magazine ‘Woman’. I liked all the tips so much I thought I couldn’t not share them with you.

Often these types of lists are clichéd and pointless (if that’s not too harsh). This one makes me want to smile more so I can be younger, happier, healthier and more popular!

5 great reasons to smile

1. Smiling makes us more attractive, so if you’re trying to impress, a smile will draw people in.

2. A smile changes your mood for the better – even if you don’t feel like smiling, it actually tricks the body into feeling better by releasing endorphins.

3. You’ll look instantly younger. The muscles you use to smile lift the face, making you appear younger.

4. It lowers your blood pressure. When you smile there’s a measurable reduction in your blood pressure readings.

5. Smiling relieves stress. It also helps to stop you looking tired, worn out and overwhelmed, so making you better able to cope.

  1. Fiona,

Great reminder! I catch myself in a frown more often than I'd like to admit. It's usually because I'm concentrating on something or just plain thinking.

P.S. I smiled the entire time I wrote this comment :)
And that is the prettiest picture of Marilyn I've ever seen...she just radiates.

  2. I smile at everyone that I see and I always get a smile back and that simple gesture can change the course of peoples lives. It makes everyone feel good! Great post! xxoo :)

  3. I agree with Adrienne, that is the best picture of Marilyn! What a gorgeous woman.

I have to remind myself to smile too--mostly because my naturally relaxed face can make me looked quite pissed off...I think I get that from my dad. I have the forehead furrow to prove it. But I am rarely pissed off--just a thinker who gets a lot of headaches.

OK, I just re-read what I wrote and laughed. Thank you!

  6. Reading this post made me smile! And, it reminded me, one of my friends gave me this little book called "Smiles" a while back, and there's a picture of Marilyn Monroe in there as well.

There are a lot of good quotes in there, but one of my favorites is this Justine Milton quote: "Never frown because you never know who might be falling in love with your smile."
