Autumn fashion, and more audiobooks!

Hello from sunny Hawke's Bay, New Zealand in the Autumn!

It's still warm so I'm making the most of wearing my summer sandals because I know it will be cozy clothes weather soon enough 😊

I have been 'hard at work' (lol) writing this week, and recording audiobooks too. I've just completed The Glam Life today, and The Peaceful Life last week. I love the way the audiobook covers look!

They take a few weeks to filter through, but you can always check Audible to see what's available so far.

And of course they are available sooner in my eStore as an MP3 download. (The Glam Life will be uploaded there tomorrow).

Next up for recording will be Thirty More Chic Days and Thirty Chic Days Vol. 3. I hope you are enjoying the audiobooks if you have listened to any of them!

And I finished my puzzle last weekend! Sundays have become my puzzle days. It feels nice to have fun rituals like this in place. I do little bits of my puzzle here and there during the week, but Sundays are a day of rest to me and I think for many others, no matter our religion. On a Sunday I can noodle around with my puzzle guilt-free 😊

Sundays are a chance to relax and recharge for the week ahead. It's nice to go into Monday fresh and rested, and organised too. I like to get my planner out and look at the week ahead, putting in any appointments and writing out a few goals for the week.

I really like the quality of the Galison puzzles, this is the second one I have done of theirs.

This one is 'Autumn in the Neighborhood'
(here on Amazon)

and the other was 'Christmas in London'
(here on Amazon)

What do you like to do on a Sunday? And are you a planner for the week? Do you like to go out? Stay home?

This afternoon I am going out for a ladies coffee date so that will be enjoyable. My husband Paul is staying at home to look after the children 🀣 aka three naughty doggies and a cat who likes to be fed any time she feels like it (to be fair she is 12 years old and very thin, so we always indulge her πŸ₯°)

I feel like I've been a bit of a hermit these past few weeks. I mean, normally I love being at home but it's been a lot, even for meπŸ˜‚

What can I say, I've just been doing a lot of writing and recording lately.

I know it's been a long time since my last new book - November! - but I promise I have more coming. I am writing two at the moment, it's just how I roll. Whichever one is the most enticing for me at the time is the one that gets worked on.

Happy weekend to you, I hope you have a good one.

xx Fiona

Simple days at home :)

Hello chic friends!
This is little Nina cat heading towards our patio area. She always uses the concrete edging as a path, and the doggies do too. It's so cute how they do that!
I have started doing something that makes me more likely to use the beautiful fresh herbs that are growing outside my kitchen door.

I purposely placed the raised planter box near my kitchen so it would be easier to pick the herbs. But when I'm cooking and doing a lot of different things at once, to go outside, pick the herbs I want, wash and dry then chop them... well, I still had a barrier, so often I would skip using the herbs.

I found a way to remove that barrier and now, maybe once a week, I go out and pick different herbs, wash and dry them in my salad spinner (you NEED a salad spinner, it will make you like salad more!), then store in a container lined with paper towels.

I'm telling you, it is such a treat to go into your own beautiful herb store and pick out which herbs you want for that meal. You will feel more European, more elegant, like a proper chef, and healthier too. Plus, your meals will have that added je ne sais quoi with fresh herbs.

And even if you don't have a herb garden, doing this with your purchased fresh herbs will mean they last longer and you are more likely to use them all up, versus leaving them unwashed in a plastic bag to be forgotten about in your vegetable crisper.

Have I convinced you yet? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Fresh herbs taste so different and so much better than dried herbs. Fresh herbs are rarely overpowering but I do find dried herbs can be easy to OD on.

Look at all that green goodness in my container!

I had to include a picture of my book '100 Ways to Live a Luxurious Life on a Budget' because using fresh herbs is tip no. 31 in the list 😊

I love mint in my smoothies, curly parsley in my scrambled eggs, and chives in a salad. Yum!
In my office this week 😊

I have been recording another audiobook, and am busy writing on my next book too. It's so fun being creative. Thank you for allowing me to do this!

I really do appreciate every single book order, whether it's Kindle, paperback, or audiobook, and if you leave a review as well.

I don't take it for granted, and I always try to do my best for you. And , I'm open to feedback about anything I can do better also. You can always email me: fiona at howtobechic dot com.
I hope you have a great weekend!

xx Fiona

PS. I have set up a 'Linktree' page, where you can see all my different links: where to buy my books, and audiobooks, my newsletter lists, and where else to find me.
Please share this email with a friend who you think might like my books too! With thanks!

Audiobooks new this week!

Hello chic friends,
My mother took this photo of Chloe and me. Chloe is trying on mum's dog Milly's tee-shirt. She looks like a surfer dude in it!

Milly is quite the fashionista with an array of outfits. Chloe wanted to get in on a bit of the action 😁

I have listened to your requests... 😊

My audiobooks will now be narrated by me. The newest ones are currently available in my eStore only, but will be everywhere within 2-6 weeks. So, if you would like an early listen, you are warmly welcomed to purchase from my eStore here! (100 Ways to be That Girl is not narrated by me, but the other three are).

You can also listen to a sample of each audiobook before you buy.

I hope you enjoy them, even if you only listen to the sample!

Now that I have worked out how to do everything, I will get onto recording the next audiobook!

And please, I welcome feedback. Whether it's a review on Amazon, or a personal email or message to me, I'd love to hear what you think of my narration.

It's actually really fun recording the audio versions - I get to read each book all over again! I do hope you enjoy them πŸ₯°

And remember The Chic Author is still on sale for a few days more only. The Kindle has 70% off and the paperback is around half price.

You can find it here on Amazon. And the eBook is in my eStore for an Amazon alternative.

A pretty and autumnal new puzzle. The colours of the leaves in the picture match the leaves outside our home πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ§‘

I am about half-way through it!

It is called 'Autumn in the Neighborhood' by Galison (here on Amazon).

This is the second Galison puzzle I have done and I really appreciate their beautiful artwork.

I mostly keep my puzzling to the weekends, and the occasional weekday flit. It is particularly pleasant to noodle around for a while on a Sunday 😊

I hope you have a great weekend. I plan to read, write, puzzle, and relax 😊 Just perfect. Please let me know what you're up to!

xx Fiona

Autumn softness in New Zealand, and 'The Chic Author' book on sale

Heading out to meet friends for dinner last night. It was nice to cozy up in my new black top. It's made of super-soft merino wool and has restored my faith in wool. I love feeling warm but most merino tops are too scratchy for me.

I hope you've had a great week, and are looking forward to the eclipse next week! I'll be watching it on tv. Such fun.
Autumn days in my neck of the woods πŸ‚πŸπŸ‚πŸπŸ‚

Life is pretty gentle here. Soft autumn feelings. Cooler nights and beautiful days. And of course many of you are heading into spring which I'm sure is being warmly welcomed!

I have had more ladies asking me about being an author lately, as well as joining my ‘Create Your Dream Life as a Successful Author’ eCourse.

I took this as a sign that I should do a sale on my book 'The Chic Author', because, why not? I always enjoy sharing the love πŸ₯° Maybe there is something in the air that is making us reevaluate our dreams right now?

Instead of $9.99, Kindle is $2.99, and paperback is $9.99 from $18.99. These are USD prices on, so if you are shopping from a different Amazon the prices will be reduced just as much and converted into your currency 😊

The Amazon link is here.

The eBook copy is also $2.99 in my eStore here for an Amazon alternative

If you have always wondered if you have it in you to write a book, even if just for your own satisfaction, please make the most of this sale! (And if not, there is excellent motivation and lifestyle inspiration to be had in this title, so maybe you'll still want to get it!)

For me, I long-dreamed of writing books and being an author, and I also love being a happy homebody. I still think how incredible it is that by starting out (in my mid-forties) writing and self-publishing books on topics that I love, that I could create my own work-from-home income and enjoy being in my cozy home office every day. It really is my happy place.

I see other people with their laptop in cafes and have often wondered if I should do that, but I really prefer to be at home, and save cafes for social time. But maybe the laptop lifestyle beckons to you.

Could you really make it your reality?

There’s only one way to find out!

There is A LOT of really good information, inspiration, and motivation in ‘The Chic Author’. I do hope you will check it out while it’s on sale. The sale will only be for a few weeks. Happy dreaming and writing!
And lastly, happy weekend to you. Have fun! I will be at home reading if anyone is looking for me 😊

xx Fiona

PS. If you already have The Chic Author, will you share this with a like-minded friend?

PPS. I also offer a FREE 10-part mini course to get you on your way to your author dreams. You can sign up here and start straight away 😊 There is no obligation to do, pay, or stress about anything. Just fun and inspiration :)
